Dr. Kathleen McGarvey is a catholic religious sister of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles (OLA). Originally from Ireland, she has worked in Argentina, Italy and Nigeria. She holds a doctorate degree in Missiology with specialization in Interreligious dialogue from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. From 2003 to 2005 and 2008 until 2013 she lived in Kaduna, Nigeria. She is the founder of the Interfaith Forum of Muslim and Christian Women's Association (a.k.a. Women's Interfaith Council) which is based in Kaduna and was the General Coordinator of the organization since its establishment until Oct 2013. During these years she was also a lecturer in the Good Shepherd Major Seminary, Kaduna and a member of the Commission on Interreligious Dialogue of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria. She was a member of the Northern Governors Forum Committee on Reconciliation, Healing and Security which was formed in Sept 2012 to investigate the causes of insecurity in the Northern States. She is author of the book Muslim and Christian Women in Dialogue: The Case of Northern Nigeria published by Peter Lang, Oxford/Bern 2009. She presently is the Provincial Superior of her Religious Congregation in Ireland, and in November 2013 she returned to live in Ireland.
