Robert Patrick Newcomb (Ph.D., Brown University) is Associate Professor of Luso–Brazilian Studies at the University of California, Davis, and founder and co–director of the UC Comparative Iberian Studies Working Group. His main areas of research interest are comparative Luso–Hispanic studies and Iberian studies. His publications include the books Iberianism and Crisis: Spain and Portugal at the Turn of the Twentieth Century (Toronto, 2018) and Nossa and Nuestra América: Inter–American Dialogues (Purdue, 2011), the edited volumes Beyond Tordesillas: New Approaches to Comparative Luso–Hispanic Studies (w/ Richard A. Gordon; Ohio State, 2018) and Transatlantic Studies: Latin America, Iberia, and Africa (w/ Cecilia Enjuto Rangel, Pedro García–Caro, and Sebastiaan Faber; Liverpool, 2019), and a translation of Alfredo Bosi’s Brazil and the Dialectic of Colonization (Illinois, 2015).
